Arepa Pues is a small Colombian lunch shack located in the Elmora neighborhood district right on Elmora Ave. The signage recently changed to "Arepas Colombianas" but it's hard to miss with their giant hulking, cute logo. Upon entering, you'll find the large counter to order from as well as various table seating and booths by the window. Their menu consists of various Colombian-style filled arepas. I'd recommend either the Super Poderosa or the Arepa Paisa. The stuffed arepas are extremely affordable, and are of great portion. In addition, they offer traditional Colombian plates and daily specials, such as the national plate, the bandeja paisa, but their arepas are their specialty. I always order a fruit shake, or batido, when I'm here, as they are made with a delicious slushy consistency and always with fresh fruit!
I came here on a Pues-day night. Get it. Pues-day. Never mind. Despite a pretty long wait time have 20 minutes or so I have to say that V arepa here is absolutely delicious. It's not the best I've ever had but it's feeling and tasty and really does the trick. There are some better ones over in New York City but I haven't had a better one in Jersey. The guava drink was nice too and not too expensive. Service was good and I would recommend this place to anybody who wasn't in a hurry.
Great little place to pick up a relatively healthy but definitely home made stuffed arepa. The owner seemed to be a really nice guy. He handed me a Peruvian green sauce when I asked if he had a house sauce. That was a pleasant surprise. I happen to enjoy Peruvian food. So the combo of the Colombian arepa married w the Peruvian sauce was a nice touch. 4 stars, to fair, because I only had one menu item and the owner had a great attitude. I'll be back to sample more. If you like the arepa and don't want to spend a lot, try this place. A home made, overstuffed arepa is a beautiful thing.
Exellente i try the bandeja paisa!!!! Exellente just good as it gets Small place big taste Price is fair 13.50 If you like colombian food This place is so tiny and good and it won't brake your packet !!! Kids friendly and they have kids meals too Arepas are really good as well
Amazing. Friendly. Cheap. Authentic. We make a trip to Elizabeth just for the arepas here. I could eat them plain. Very small seating area, but they are happy to have anyone stay and eat.
